Web Site License FAQ

The website license allows usage on a single domain such as http://www.yourdomain.com. This means that any charts that are viewed through this domain will be licensed and the branding will be gone. However, the licensed domain name must be used in the browser address bar.

Q: We plan to change domains for our site in the near future, can a web site license be modified after purchase?

A: No, web site licenses are specific to the domain licensed at the time of purchase. If you wish to use .netCHARTING on another domain or have plans to change domains in the future the web server license should be considered as it is not domain specific. Please see the related articles link below for specific web site license requirements and limitations.

Q: I have licensed for www.xyz.domain.com, the actual domain is xyz.domain.com is this a problem?

A: No, web site licenses will work with and without the "www" sub-domain. An additional license is not required for this case.

What about different subdomains such as abc.domain.com and xyz.domain.com?

A: If you needed to use both xyz.domain.com and abc.domain.com then another web site license would be required (or a server license). The web site license will work on the exact URL provided with and without the "www" subdomain only.

Can I purchase a website license without specifying a domain name? A project is in development but the domain has not yet been settled on.

A: While you can purchase the license and initially specify 'will provide later' as the domain name it will not enable unbranded production use. Only after you select a domain and have a license key issued for it can you see charts without branding with a request through that domain.

If I purchase a web site license can I later upgrade to the web server license?

A: Yes, you can upgrade at any time from a web site license to a web server license for the difference in price between what you paid for the web site license and the current price of the web server license.

Server License FAQ

The server license applies to all websites/domains on a single server box. The license is not bound to a server's IP address and is transferable between servers, however, it cannot be used on multiple servers at the same time. The server license may only be installed one (1) server at one time however you are free to use the development version (branded not for production use) on any number of servers for development and testing purposes.

Q: What is the server version requirements?

A: The server version requires the following:
1) That you fully control and have direct administrative (desktop / terminal server) access to the server.
2) Installation in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).
3) Creation of a directory (dotnetcharting) within your application data directory for your server license key.
4) Ability to edit the machine.config to add an assembly reference.

If you own a server license please see the install.txt included with the server bundle for specific installation instructions.

Note:

For usage for provision to 3rd parties, SaaS or OEM licensing is required. Corporate web site and web server licenses may not be used.

For your own company's direct use on your corporate Desktop Application. A license for WinForms (desktop) allows for usage for one developer working on one application. Royalty free distribution requires that the distribution terms are met.
